We would like to introduce you to The Manitou Springs Green Rental Organization, known as MSGRO. We are a group of rental property owners who are concerned about planetary climate change  and the deterioration of the environment.  We are working to encourage and support owners and residents in making their rental lifestyle more energy efficient, environmentally friendly, thereby reducing water, gas and electric consumption.  We invite you to join us in showing the world that Manitou Springs cares about sustainability: economically, environmentally and socially.

Our History:
The inception of our group was inspired by the City of Manitou Springs’ 2010 goal of lowering the carbon footprint . We became excited about how we could help make this a reality through educating owners and residents about recycling, conserving water, as well as reducing electricity and energy consumption.

We have partnered with the Manitou Springs Climate Protection Campaign to reach out to owners and residents around environmental issues. This is an ongoing and unfolding process of education and communication.

Our Mission Statement:
Manitou Springs Green Rental Organization (MSGRO) promotes understanding and implementation of good conservation and energy efficiency practices in Manitou Springs’ rental housing units by providing information, tools, and support.

Our Vision:
Our goal is to have 50 or more rental housing units in Manitou Springs that have implemented the MSGRO energy efficiency guidelines by October 2011.

Benefits of MSGRO Membership:
We have noticed positive results of practicing eco-friendly habits. By reducing our energy consumption, we are helping the balance sheet of the planet and at the same time our energy bills. In addition to that, we are attracting more energy conscious residents, who want to take better care of their personal home as well as their planet.  So, all in all, being “green” is good for us,  our city, and of course for the future of our earth.

Working with other rental property owners we are sharing ideas of what works and what doesn’t work;  what is cost effective and what is not.  It is great support to hear from peers about issues that effect all of us.

We can take common unified actions to encourage programs and policies that help owners and residents be more energy wise.  We are working together for a common good.

Once you have joined and upgraded you rental units you can use the MSGRO logo to show your rental units have a MSGRO GREEN ENDORSEMENT in your advertising or on your website.

Your participation will set an example for others to make a personal commitment to a more positive future for our children and grandchildren. Significant change happens by many small personal actions.

There are no fees or inspection for membership.
